HealthMarkets is excited about our new partnership with the Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children (TSRHC). This year, HealthMarkets donated the funds necessary for TSRHC to purchase eight new syringe pumps for the TSRHC's Inpatient Unit which provides round-the-clock care for children who are admitted to the hospital for surgery or a medical procedure. These devices will benefit more than 2,000 children who are admitted to TSRHC annually.
The new syringe pumps are an upgrade to existing equipment. These devices are designed for use with specific medications which must be delivered at an exact dosage over a defined period of time. They also incorporate the technology to provide automatic alerts to nurses and enhance communication with medical staff.
Another advantage of the new syringe pump technology is that the system is portable and will allow the children receiving treatment the flexibility to travel to different areas of the hospital for therapy and leisure time activities. By sponsoring this program for children, HealthMarkets hopes to make a positive difference in the treatment and comfort of these children and their families.
